Jean Christophe BallardJean-Christophe Ballard graduated in civil engineering in 2003. He has now more than 10 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering and has especially developed expertise in offshore pipeline geotechnics and finite element modeling.

Jean-Christophe recommended pipe/soil interaction parameters on numerous pipeline projects worldwide and was in charge of the interpretation of the Fugro SMARTPIPE data. Moreover, he has developed enhanced pipe-soil interaction models for SAGE Profile and used the software on consultancy projects in particular to model pipeline upheaval buckling and determine the rock dumping requirements.

As an active participant in SAFEBUCK JIP, Jean-Christophe has also contributed to the development of a new theoretical framework for the axial resistance of pipelines in very soft clay and published several technical papers.
