SAGE Profile 3D and SAGE Profile 2D are computational programs for subsea pipeline analysis. Both were designed to perform on-bottom roughness analysis.
The different life cycles of the pipeline (e.g. hydrotest, heating up, operation) can easily be modelled and results allows to rapidly identify problems like lateral buckling or upheaval buckling.
To build the model, the engines simulate the laydown of the pipeline onto the seabed. SP3D uses a digital terrain model (DTM) technique and a realistic laydown procedure very similar to a S-lay or J-lay.
Both software programs can be used for out-of-straightness analysis, span prediction, pipeline ends expansion, pipeline design (built-in code checks are based on DNV, API/ASME and PD standards) and much more!
